Bikers can get into nasty accidents if they do not take adequate precautions. It is not the BMX vert bikers alone who need the protective gear like helmets. No one can see a vert biker perform on the vert ramp without his helmet firmly strapped on. It is the helmet that protects the life of the biker every time he falls off it. Bikes are wonderful for a ride across the town at any season. You could ride it for pleasure, fun, exercise and fitness. You can also ride on a bike to work.  But you should also remember that this is a flimsy machine that is not designed to offer any meaningful protection to the biker. A patient brought to the gainesville bikes hospital with serious brain damage would stand testimony to this fact. Robertson did not have his helmet on while he was riding his bike. A car came from the rear and hit him. The impact was quite massive and Robertson was thrown off the bike. When he landed, his head hit the ground and his skull was smashed instantly. This accident could have been averted if Robertson had been a little careful on the highway. The brain injury would not have occurred if he had strapped on his helmet.
